What to look for
- Correct fit: choose regular-mouth, wide-mouth, or dual-size compatibility for the jars you use.
- Heat-safe material: stainless steel or food-grade heat-resistant plastic.
- Wide opening: useful for relishes, pickles, fruit, and other chunky preparations.
- Easy cleaning: smooth seams and dishwasher-safe construction are convenient.
How to use it
Place the funnel in a sound, warm jar and ladle in the prepared food. Remove the funnel, measure and adjust the headspace required by the tested recipe, release trapped air bubbles when directed, then wipe the rim before applying the lid.
What it does not do
A funnel reduces spills, but it does not measure headspace by itself and does not sterilize a jar. Follow the recipe’s jar-preparation and processing instructions.
Product options
A complete canning-tool kit can be useful when it includes a compatible funnel, jar lifter, bubble remover, and headspace tool. Buy only food-contact-safe tools sized for your jars.
