Jar-size choices must follow the tested recipe. Half-gallon jars have very limited tested home-canning uses.

What to look for

Do not extrapolate processing times to half-gallon jars. Use them only where an authoritative process explicitly allows them.

Product options

Ball wide-mouth pint mason jars

A compatible pint option for recipes that explicitly permit pint jars. It is not a quart or half-gallon substitute; choose the exact size and processing schedule stated by the tested source.

Safe-use reminder

Equipment does not make an untested recipe safe. Use a current authoritative home-canning process that specifies the food, preparation, jar size, canner type, time or pressure, and altitude adjustment. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s current instructions.

Before you buy

  • Confirm compatibility with your jars, lids, cooktop, and tested process.
  • Check capacity, dimensions, replacement-part availability, and warranty terms.
  • Inspect equipment before use and replace damaged or incompatible parts.
